Funds are now being collected toward the cost of a permanent memorial to be installed on "Patricia's Green in Hayes Valley" at Octavia Boulevard and Hayes Street. It will be in the form of an acrylic pylon (approx. 11" x 11" x 12 feet) similar to the ones at the Embarcadero. It will tell the story of how Patricia and the many other ordinary citizens of Hayes Valley remained steadfast through three ballot initiatives to see the Octavia Blvd./Central Freeway Project completed. The memorial will be a tribute to the community spirit that has transformed the neighborhood. (The cost of the pylon could be between $15-25,000 dollars.)
