Funds are now being collected toward the cost of a permanent memorial to be installed on "Patricia's Green in Hayes Valley" at Octavia Boulevard and Hayes Street. The most recent thought on the design is an illuminated, etched glass panel (similar to, but on a smaller scale than the San Jose Veteran's Memorial) . It will tell the story of how Patricia and the many other ordinary citizens of Hayes Valley remained steadfast through three ballot initiatives to see the Octavia Blvd./Central Freeway Project completed. The memorial will be a tribute to the community spirit that has transformed the neighborhood. (The cost of the memorial could be between $15-25,000 dollars.)
